The Lake, Fish Hooks, and the ER
August 1, 2006 on 10:40 am | In General, Family | 1 CommentI had a nice weekend at Heath’s Resort on Upper Whitefish Lake, up until Sunday morning. Amanda had been badgering me to come out and do something outside while we were at the cabin, and so I agreed. We brought honey with us to the beach, and started setting up on some beach chairs. Honey got hot and ran into the lake, and Amanda chased after her. A cry of pain ushered from Amanda’s mouth as she stepped on something, and Honey continued to bound along the water front. I grabbed the leash on the dog and went to see what Amanda had done. As it turned out she stepped onto a fish hook, with a huge lure attached! Instantly I grabbed her and put her onto my back and carried her (while holding the dog’s leash) onto the boardwalk. 3 1/2 hours, a shot of lytocane, a swift tug, and a tetanus booster later, the doctor had removed the fish hook from Amanda’s foot.
